INFORMATION

Despite several ups and downs, starts and stops, The Lucky Dragon moved out of the "I'll believe when I see it" file and into the "Hey, I see it!" file.

The Asian-themed property, located on Sahara Avenue just west of the SLS Las Vegas is not exactly what you'd call a destination resort. In fact, most visitors to Vegas will not have any good reason to go there unless you are a fan of baccarat or authentic Asian cuisine.

There are only 203 rooms, making it roughly 1/20th the size of most of the hotels on The Strip. The casino is microscopic - only about 20,000 square-feet, which is only about half the size of The Cromwell's small casino. Most of that space is taken up with games popular to Asian crowds like baccarat and there are only a handful of slot machines and blackjack tables. There is a pool and spa and several Asian restaurants, all of which serve what is billed as authentic cuisine.

So who will go there? The boutique property is being marketed, unsurprisingly, to Asian tourists, which is obvious if you look at their website, which is in both English and Chinese.

If you did want to stay here, be prepared to pay for it. Although rates will always fluctuate, they are currently advertising upwards of $200 per night during the week and $300 and up on the weekends. They also have $20.16 resort fee including tax.

If you're in the neighborhood it might be worth it to stop by, if for no other reason than to take a gander at the big dragon themed chandelier in the center of the casino, but it probably isn't worth going out of your way for.
