At a Glance

What is it?

The closest mall to The Strip that is the most similar to the malls in your city.

Where is it?

On Maryland Parkway, a couple of miles east of The Strip.

What do they sell?

There are more than 140 stores, shops, and boutiques mostly of the mid-level variety. Here are a few examples: Sears, Marshall’s, Bath & Body Works, The Body Shop, Express, Foot Locker, Forever 21, Frederick’s of Hollywood, Hot Topic, Lane Bryant, Lenscrafters, Old Navy, Vans, Victoria’s Secret, and Zales Jewelers.

What are the prices like?

Pretty average for these types of stores. You’ll pay about the same thing in the Sears here that you’d pay at the Sears near you.

What should I be sure to check out?

They have added an aquarium, a Mexican heritage museum, and other family friendly attractions.

Why should I shop here?

Because you spilled ketchup on your good dress shirt and don’t feel like paying $500 to pick up a new one at the malls on The Strip.

What else do I need to know?

Major department stores Macy’s and JC Penney closed in 2017 but more new stuff like movie theaters are coming so the mall is in transition.

What’s the bottom line?

Not the most exciting place to shop.

Full Review

Although located in Las Vegas, The Boulevard Mall is pretty much the same as most malls in the country. Unlike the wild and wacky shopping destinations on The Strip, here there are no talking statues, no rain storms, no singing gondeliers, and, perhaps most importantly, a distinct lack of high-end designer merchandise that will cost you a fortune to buy.

That last piece is important. While this may not be the type of mall you’ll go out of your way to visit, it is the closest one to The Strip that offers the kind of moderate prices and familiar brand names that you are used to in the malls near where you live. That can be a good thing if you are looking to shop for something you need rather than something you want. Airline lose your luggage? Instead of maxxing out the credit cards at the Christian Dior shop in The Strip malls, here at the Boulevard there’s a JC Penny here filled with lots of affordable clothes to tide you over. Sure, you might not be as stylish, but do you really want to pay $100 for a new t-shirt just because it says Audigier on it? I didn’t think so.

It’s worth noting that new owners will be dumping a bunch of money into it to make it more appealing – maybe still not to tourists, but at least to locals who have taken their shopping dollars elsewhere. The plan is to add a farmer’s market to the front of the property along Maryland Parkway; renovate an empty department store into office space and smaller boutiques; add a bowling alley and movie theaters; and just generally spiff up the place. The project is expected to begin this summer and be done by spring of 2015.
