What is it?

A branch of the legendary New York French eatery comes to Las Vegas but loses some of what made it special during the trip.

Where is it?

At Bellagio on the Center Strip.

What kind of food is served?

You kind of have to be a fan of French food to truly enjoy this place. There are a lot of fine cuts of meat, all with creamy French sauces and a lot of foie gras, plus some absolutely delicious duck. The flavors are dramatic and they manage to avoid the bulk of the trappings that many chi-chi French restaurants fall into. Having said that, it is still not the best French restaurant in town.

What is the atmosphere like?

Le Cirque as in Circus, so the room is done up as a brightly colored big top. It’s a strange choice for a fine French restaurant.

How is the service?

Almost perfect.

What are the prices like?

It’s expensive of course – expect to pay at least $100 or more per person when you’re all done.

What else do I need to know?

You gotta get gussied up to come here – no shorts or athletic wear.

What’s the bottom line?

This place is coasting a bit on its reputation. There are better French restaurants in town.
